Week 29 Report

In Division 1 of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League, PO Tigers were 5 – 3 winners against a heavily depleted Bentley Travel Visa and Tigers themselves only having two players, the sets that were played saw Kev Foster stay unbeaten for Bentley. PO Dragons gained an 8 – 2 win over Foxes with Simon Lafferty hitting a maximum and Chris Hough and Alan Darlington each chipping in with a pair of wins whilst both the Foxes wins came from the bat of Alan Goldstraw. In the other match played Stags were 6 – 4 winners against Eagles with Dougie Muirhead unbeaten for Stags whilst a brace of wins each for Graham Hough and John Reader couldn’t save Eagles from the defeat.

In Division 2, Cobras enjoyed a comfortable 9 – 1 victory against Panthers with Barrie Morgan and Dave Stubbs both unbeaten and Barry Pountain notching two wins, and Lynx were 7 – 3 win over Rhinos with Tau Manonge on top form and Chris Harris and Jonathon Clarke both claiming a brace of wins, Rhinos main contribution came from two wins from Paul Benbow. Elsewhere, Bears were 8 – 2 winners over Wolves with Tom Osborne and Dave Prince both on form and Otters were 8 – 2 winners against Bobcats with Nick Tomlinson on good form and two wins each for John Tweats and Phil Roy.

In Division 3, Sloths were 9 – 1 winners against Woodpeckers with Ben Watson and Dennis Artess both unbeaten and Stoats were 7 – 3 winners against Lion Cubs with Gavin Soulsby, Nina Elizabeth and Connor Riddell all scoring a pair of wins whilst an Ed Pettitt maximum for Lion Cubs couldn’t save his side from the loss. In other results Polecats were 6 – 4 winners against Pumas despite Alex Rees unbeaten display for Pumas and Rheas gained a 6 – 4 victory over Water Rats with Ash Taylor’s unbeaten performance for Water Rats being the main highlight in the match.
