Week 19 Report

In Division 1 of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League, maximums from Chris Bailey and Will Haynes helped the leaders Bentley Travel Visa to a 7 – 3 win against PO Tigers whilst Kidsgrove were held to 5 – 5 draw with Elks with Jan Johns unbeaten for Kidsgrove and two wins from James Courtney for Elks helping level the match. The other match played saw PO Dragons gain an 8 – 2 win over Foxes with Bernard Thorley on top form and Chris Hough and John Reader each scoring a brace of wins whilst both of the Foxes wins came from the bat of Alan Goldstraw.

In Division 2, Cobras extended their lead at the top with a 10 – 0 whitewash of Panthers with Barrie Morgan,  Barry Pountain and Dave Stubbs all proving to strong for the opposition and Lynx stayed in contention with a 9 – 1 win against Rhinos with Chris Harris and Alin Vascuta both hitting trebles and two wins for Tau Manonge. Elsewhere, Bears enjoyed an 8 – 2 victory over Wolves with Dave Prince notching a maximum and Tom Osborne and Mike Farr each scoring pair of wins and Otters and Bobcats played out 5 – 5 draw with Phil Roy and John Tweats each scoring a brace of wins for Otters whilst an unbeaten Douggie Muirhead and two wins for Aiden Parker earned Bobcats the draw.

In Division 3, Pumas enjoyed a 10 – 0 victory over Polecats with Joe Haywood, Lewis Manslow and Dennis Artess all unbeaten and Stoats beat Lion Cubs 6 – 3 in a match where both sides were depleted Ben Ashton stayed unbeaten for Stoats.
