Week 14 Report

In Division 1 of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League, Neil Hough and Will Haynes were both unbeaten in an 8 – 2 win for leaders Bentley Travel Visa over Stags whilst Kidsgrove gained a 9 – 1 victory against PO Eagles with John Dawson and Cliff Bell both on top form and Barry Hughes notching a brace of wins. Elsewhere a James Courtney maximum and two wins for Callum Tizard helped Elks to a 5 – 5 draw with PO Dragons with Alan Darlington’s double being Dragons main points contributor and match saver and PO Tigers enjoyed an 8 – 2 win over Foxes thanks to a Lee Rickard maximum and two wins each for Steve Crowson and Alan Shaw.

In Division 2, Cobras gained a 7 – 3 win over leaders Lynx with Barrie Morgan, Barry Pountain and Dave Stubbs all scoring a brace of wins each in the match as did Alin Vascuta for Lynx and Bears were also 7 – 3 winners against Bobcats with Tom Osborne unbeaten and a Dave Prince pair of wins, Douggie Muirhead’s double for Bobcats gave the score line respectability. The other two matches played in the division both ended in 9 – 1 wins with Darryl Klopper and Paul Benbow both unbeaten and Steve Tizard chipping in with a pair of wins in Rhinos win against Wolves and likewise Gary McManus and Braden Jones were both hit maximums and Steve Jones’s double gave Panthers their win over Otters.

In Division 3, leaders Sloths gained a 7 – 3 win against Lion Cubs with Robert Miller and Ian Austin both unbeaten and Stoats were 7 – 3 winners against Pumas with Ben Aston, Gavin Soulsby and Nina Elizabeth each notching a pair of wins whilst all of the Pumas wins came from the bat of Dennis Artess. The other match played saw Worleston Woodpeckers gain an 8 – 2 win over Rheas with Marten Davies and Simon Duffield both on good form.
