Week 13 Report

In Division 1 Crewe and District Table Tennis League, leaders Bentley Travel Visa enjoyed a 10 – 0 win over PO Eagles with Chris Bailey, Kev Foster and Alan Marchant all on top form. Elsewhere a 7 – 3 win for PO Dragons against PO Tigers moved them into second spot thanks to maximums from Bernard Thorley and Simon Lafferty whilst a depleted Kidsgrove made a 5 – 5 draw with Foxes with John Dawson unbeaten which sees level on points with Dragons. The other match played saw Elks gain a 6 – 4 victory over Stags with James Courtney hitting a treble and two wins for Callum Tizard, a Nadeem Ahmed brace of wins provided Stags main response.

In Division 2, Lynx enjoyed an 8 – 2 win over Bears with Chris Harris and Alin Vascuta both on form, both the other two matches played, Rhinos against Panthers and Bobcats against Wolves, ended in 5 – 5 draws where no single player dominated in either match. Rhinos had Darryl Klopper and Paul Benbow each score a pair of wins which was equalled by Braden Jones for Panthers to help earn his side the draw whilst Hamish Howard and Stefan Derricutt both notched a brace of wins for a depleted Wolves side in their draw against Bobcats.

In Division 3, Water Rats inflicted a 6 – 4 defeat on top team Sloths thanks to a Nick Tomlinson maximum and two wins for John Tweats, Ian Austin’s double for Sloths not enough to prevent the defeat. Elsewhere, Stoats were 7 – 3 winners over Polecats with Gavin Soulsby and Nina Elizabeth both unbeaten and Worleston Woodpeckers gained a 7 – 3 win against Lion Cubs with Aron Rutter on top form for the Woodpeckers. Lastley Pumas were 7 – 3 winners over Rheas with a Dennis Artess hat trick and two wins from Lewis Manslow securing the win, a pair of victories from Tina Ralph provided Rheas main highlight.
