Week 9 Report

In Division 1 of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League, PO Tigers produced one of the better results of the week holding leaders Bentley Travel Visa to a 5 – 5 draw with Rupert Turner and Alan Shaw each notching a brace of wins for Tigers whilst a maximum from the bat of Will Haynes helped the leaders earn the draw. Elsewhere there were 10 – 0 victories for Kidsgrove against Elks with Paul Oltean, John Dawson and Radu Dorofteiu all doing the business and likewise Nadeem Ahmed, Rob Pritchard and Andy Bateman were all on form for Stags in their whitewash of PO Eagles. The other match played saw PO Dragons gain a 9 – 1 win over Foxes with Simon Lafferty and Chris Hough hitting maximums and Alan Darlington chipping in with a pair of wins.

In Division 2, Cobras hold a comfortable lead at the top after their 7 – 3 win against Panthers with Barrie Morgan unbeaten and Barry Pountain and Dave Stubbs scoring two wins each. Bears enjoyed a 9 – 1 victory over Wolves with Tom Osborne and Dave Prince both on form and Mike Farr’s pair of wins helping to secure the win and Otters gifted Bobcats the points when they couldn’t field a team.

In Division 3, Sloths were 9 – 1 winners against Woodpeckers with Robert Miller and Ian Austin both unbeaten and two wins for Enoch Agordo and Water Rats were 8 – 2 winners with John Tweat and Phil Roy both on top form against Rheas. The other match played saw Pumas gain a 9 – 1 win over Polecats with Joe Haywood and Dennis Artess both unbeaten and Lewis Manslow scoring a pair of wins.
