Week 10 Report

In Division 1 of the Crewe and District Table Tennis League, leaders Bentley Travel Visa were 8 – 2 winners over nearest rivals Kidsgrove with Chris Bailey and Will Haynes both on top form whilst PO Dragons closed the gap on second spot with a 10 – 0 whitewash of PO Eagles with Chris Hough, Alan Darlington and Ian Oakes all gaining maximum returns from the match. Elsewhere, a Rupert Turner hat trick of wins and an Alan Shaw double helped PO Tigers to a 7 – 3 win against and Stags who had Nadeem Ahmed score a brace of wins to keep the score respectable and Foxes and Elks played out a 5 – 5 draw with Neil Colville unbeaten for Foxes whilst a pair of wins for James Courtney and Callum Tizard helped Elks earn the draw.

In Division 2, Cobras continue to lead after an 8 – 2 win against Wolves with Barry Pountain and Barrie Morgan both on form. Lynx closed the gap on the leaders with two results, a 9 – 1 win over Panthers with Chris Harris and Tau Manonge both scoring maximums and a brace of wins from Jonathon Clarke had followed a 5 – 5 draw with Rhinos with a pair of wins for Harris and Clarke being equalled by Paul Benbow and Darryl Klopper for Rhinos. Rhinos other match result saw them gain a 7 – 3 win over Bobcats with Benbow on top form and Steve Tizard notching a brace of wins as did Douggie Muirhead for Bobcats. The other result in the division saw Bears gain a 9 – 1 win against Otters with Mike Farr and Tom Osborne both hitting maximums and two wins from Dave Prince.

In Division 3 leaders Sloths were 8 – 2 winners over Stoats with Robert Miller and Ian Austin both top form and two wins for Enoch Agordo whilst Woodpeckers claimed the division biggest win in a 9 – 1 win over Polecats with Simon Duffield and Marten Davies both unbeaten and a pair of wins for Mark Baldwin. Elsewhere, Lion Cubs were 6 – 4 winners against Rheas with Harrison Wright and Cameron McGlincy scoring two wins each whilst an unbeaten man of the match performance from Craig Wright couldn’t save Rheas from the defeat and Pumas and Water Rats made a 5 – 5 draw Dennis Artess maximum for Pumas being nullified by a pair of wins each for Nick Tomlinson and John Tweats.
