Blades A Overcome Horsham Spinners A In The Premier

Josh Bennett, George Hazell and Tony Catt overcame the Horsham Spinners A side last week with comparative ease. Facing up to Adam Laws, Mark Burman and Rory Scott the Blades trio really turned on the gas, with both Josh and George scoring classy maximums.

Josh took out both Adam Laws and Mark Burman 3 straight, Rory managed to get an end from both of them before going down to the determined Tony Catt 9-11 in the fifth.  George was too strong for Mark chalking up a good 11-5, 11-8, 11-5 win. A great win that cements their league position, so all to play for with 5 matches still to come. Blades A 7 Spinners A 2

Horsham A showed their B team their class, After a bit of an upset in the first half of the season Horsham A  (Chris Vincent Graham Barnes and Stephen Hoad)  asserted their position beating their B team. Although they had been without Graham Barnes through injury in the first half, he was man of the match this time round, so there was little the B team could do. Holly Holder who played well all night, showed her fighting spirit battling to beat Chris Vincent 11-13 in the 5th the only point that the B team could take. Nick Smith though had also been unlucky not to have taken a win against Chris Vincent. Dennis Hayden didn't trouble Chris but took both Graham and Stephen to four. Horsham B are continuing to fight hard but Horsham A 8 Horsham B 1

It was a resigned Copthorne team that turned up shorthanded due to illness knowing that picking up points without their top player was a tall order..  and so it turned out to be..  Stuart Brooks stretched both Mark Collins and Musa to four games Dan Pound though was far too strong for him. Dan wasn't able to beat Chris Pullinger so easily though needing five to settle that one. Chris lost in three to Mark Collins but took Musa to four. Copthorne still fighting to retain their Premier place.

Foresters A were dominant against Blades B, Martin Svensson a very classy player had a walk in the park this week, winning all his games three straight.  A slightly weakened Blades B team did manage to stretch the other players though, with Piers Van Mol taking Adam Todd to 8 in the 5th and Graham Carter taking Michael Robinson to 5 in the 5th. Michael Bridger also managed to nick a game from Michael Robinson. Their efforts were in vain though as Foresters A posted another maximum. Foresters A 9 Blades B 0

Foresters D beat Foresters C with James Wheatley man of the match, he has had a great season with his average suggesting a higher team placing next season. He won three Becca George supported with two..not quite able to sneak a win in 5 from Gerry Pugh. Kate Cheer added one beating Gary Bonner in a tight five setter. Adam Daley was unlucky to only pick up one taking both ladies to five - although resorting to tactics with Becca that only delayed the inevitable !  Gerry had a relatively easy win against Kate but a tougher win against Becca and did well to take James to four.
