Two 4 Star Junior Titles for Crawley and Horsham Juniors

Four Juniors from the Crawley & Horsham League made the long journey to play at the East Midlands 4 Star Junior Open last weekend, George and Alice Hazell, Josh Bennett all Blades TTC plus Kate Cheer Foresters TTC.

George put in his usual determined effort going close with higher ranked players and Alice had a good day picking up good results at this top level Tournament.

But it was Josh and Kate who came home with the spoils, Josh excelled expectations when seeded at 4 in the main Junior Open event he made the final and then beat the number 1 seed Alex Ramsden to win the title, a great result for Josh who is now rapidly piling up the ranking points.

Seeded number 2 in the Junior Girls Open, Kate Cheer would have presumed she might be facing arch rival and good friend Denise Payet the number 1 seed in the final, but Zahna Hall was also on top form and took Denise out in the semis.
Zahna ranked 6 in England and 2 years older can be a difficult prospect with her more defensive style but Kate mixed up her shots and used her big hits at the right time to win in 3 straight sets, another great result for Kate.
