Following a disastrous first weekend when Barrie Gilbert missed the matches against Lancashire and Hampshire unable to get back from Guernsey due to fog Sussex only had one point following a 5-5 draw against Essex.This season for the first time three teams were due to be relegated.

The Crawley and Horsham Team of Paul Carter and Ryzsard Pelc were the winners of the first local round of the Wilmott Cup hosted at K2 by the Crawley and Horsham League.
Jacob Evans & John Strang and Fraser Kent & Owen Brown played in the Carter Cup with Frazer and Owen ending as winners.
