The second Colebridge Hard Bat tournament was another great success.

A healthy draw of 20 players provided the perfect number for organizer Kate Hughes to arrange four groups of five players each , which meant plenty of hard bat competiton for all.

Games were played to 21 points , with five serves each , which was a remembrance of things past for some of those participating , but very much up to the minute was the single point knock out competition for cash prizes , which , fittingly , was won by the eldest player on the day , 78 year old Neil Wheatley.

Last years finalists in the main draw both had commitments elsewhere , which left the field wide open.

Sam Henderson had his eye on the title , his time will come in future years , but this year his progress was halted in the semi final by eventual champion Eddie Lynn , who beat Kate Hughes in the final , after she had defeated Neil Wheatley in the other semi final.

In the consolation event , last years winner Tim Fells unconventional , left handed block stylings proved too much for Mike Evetts over the course of three sets.

Finally: many thanks to all those who gave their time and energy to make this event such an enjoyable and fun day.
