Colebridge Hard Bat Tournament 2016
On what has become a traditional fixture on the Colebridge calendar , there was a successful and enjoyable day for all at Colebridge today ( June 5th) .
Kate Hughes won the tournament , despite losing in her group to gnarly pensioner Mike Evetts , with a display of powerful forehand hitting , which proved too much for previous winner Roy Prosser , who defied the years with yet another final appearance.
There was another new winner in the consolation event , with John Cox beating 80 year old Neil Wheatley in the final, with a combined age of over 150+ , this was a match that evinced further proof , if it were needed , that table tennis is a sport for life.
Lisa Rinnhofer will take some consolation from losing to Roy Prosser in the semi final of the main draw , with her win in the single point event. Her turn will come , as it will for sister Sophie , as they continue to improve all aspects of their game.
Many thanks to Roy and Evelyn Prosser for the selection of toothsome treats available in the kitchen , and , of course , to the peerless Kate Hughes for administrating the whole event so smoothly and seamlessly.
