Meanwhile - out in the Shires

Match report vs. Nomads ‘A’ away Wednesday 2nd October 2013 - by John Taylor.

The Leamington ‘B’ side got off to a winning start in their opening match of the Leamington League Div 2 campaign by beating Nomads ‘A’ 6 – 4.

The Nomads side were bolstered by the up and coming junior Sam Wiggins, but the guile of John Taylor and Neil Wheatley saw off his challenge with John Chandler just missing out in five. JT also proved to be too strong for Nomads’ Ian Beasley and Tony Thomas, Neil took the scalp of Ian Beasley but lost out to Thomas and JC  chipped in with a deserved win over the hard hitting Thomas, unfortunately the double went to Nomads. Team captain JT was pleased with the overall result but having taken a three love match lead a bigger winning margin looked possible. JT said that having lost the services of Mike Rinnhofer and Vikas Bakhashi the ‘B’ team may find it harder this year to bounce back up to Div 1 at the first attempt.

Team regulars JC and JT will be supported by Sam Henderson, Mike Credland, Mike Evetts and Neil Wheatley, but other playing commitments could pose a problem for the two Johns in getting a side out each week especially if JT’s house move sees him off to Devon for a couple of months!
