Fergie tips Amann to be top 10 hit

Amann Ubhi

Amann Ubhi , of Colebridge TTC,  was the star as Warwickshire retained their coveted Division One status in the final round of county championship matches.

The 19 year old , who lost just one set in the Birmingham League in the 2011/12 season , transferred this form to his county , winning 11 out of 14 sets.

" Amann was superb " said team mate Ian Ferguson , who captained the county side . " I have said he could become an England ranked top 20 player with natural progression but after recent displays I feel he should aim for the top 10. This is only his fourth season in the sport and he needs to test himself against the leading players in national tournaments but the ability is there.

We were expected to struggle to stay in the section but thanks to Amann and some other fine performances we finished fifth. "

" The future looks bright with Leamington , in particular , continuing to produce some outstanding young talent."

Ferguson played his part in the Warwickshire success with several important wins.

Stirchley based "Fergie" has represented the county for 25 years.

Matthew Outhwaite , Adrian Pilgrim , Rachel Pilgrim and Charlotte Spencer also appeared for Warwickshire.
