Only six points separate the top six teams in Division One

If you thought Division Two was close last week, Division One is even closer this week! Two-thirds of the division are only separated by 6 points, which makes it all to play for in the weeks ahead. Walton B lead at the top after drawing 5-5 with Gt Horkesley A. Walton looked certain to win 6-4 with Paul Meikle 2-0 up in the final game of the evening. However, Lloyd Bennett-Smith thought otherwise and came back to win 11-6 in the 5th. Ken Lewis won all of his games for Gt Horkesley. After struggling at the beginning of the season, St James C have had a resurgent as of late. Their latest victory came against Tollgate C, whom they beat 6-4. Andy Vincent continued his fine form by winning all of his games.

In Division Two, Rowhedge E stay top of the table after beating Tollgate E 7-3. Christopher Parr ended the night unbeaten to maintain a very high win percentage, which is now at 94.44%. Lawford C have closed the gap to only two points by beating Tollesbury B 8-2. Paul Hewitt and James Tindle won three apiece for Lawford. Pegasus B beat Dedham A 7-3, with Steve Noble achieving a maximum for Pegasus. Rowhedge G drew 5-5 with Rowhedge F. Unsurprisingly, Jared Chelski continued his dream season by winning all his games and holding on to his unbeaten record.

Tollgate F have extended their lead at the top of Division Three after beating St James E 9-1. St James could only turn up with two players, and against a very strong team in this division, John Marshall did well to claim a point for St James. Tollgate F now lead Tollgate G by 18 points after the ‘G’ team only managing a 5-5 draw against a resilient Gt Horkesley C side. Andy Huang, who sometimes plays up in Division One, won all of his games for Tollgate G. Pegasus D beat their sister team, Pegasus C, 8-2. Tim Huxtable proved too strong for his opponents. Gt Horkesley D beat Gilberd A 6-4, with Olly Fifield winning all of his games for the Gilberd. In the bottom-of-the-table clash, Pegasus E had an impressive 8-2 victory over Dedham B. Derek Miller and Andrew Cousins ended the night unbeaten. This result leaves Pegasus six points from safety.

Lawford D played out a 5-5 draw with Pegasus G to stay in with a slight chance of promotion to Division Three. No player ended the night unbeaten, but this result now sees them move to six points behind Tollesbury C who currently sit in 2nd place. Tollgate H beat CRGS A 7-3, however no player could beat CRGS’ Justin Lee, who has only lost two games all season.

In the Premier Division, Tollgate A made sure they did not let Rowhedge A gain any ground on them. They had a 10-0 victory over St James B to move 13 points clear of Rowhedge. This result leaves St James B 3 points from safety, but have a game in hand over Lawford A who sit in the last safe position in the table. Rowhedge A beat their ‘B’ team 9-1. Jermaine Fearon achieved Rowhedge B’s only point of the evening by beating Paul Broxton. Tollgate B beat St James A 9-1, with St James’ only point coming in the doubles. Walton A drew 5-5 with Lawford A in the other game of the division.
