With just one week to go until the half way point in the Colchester and District Table Tennis League, teams are starting to spread out at the top and bottom of the divisions. Jared Chelski is helping Rowhedge G challenge for promotion at the top of Division Two after winning his 24th consecutive game; every game of the season. They sit just three points behind current leaders, Lawford C, after an 8-2 victory over a strong Pegasus B side. Lewis Bardell also won a maximum for Rowhedge. Lawford C beat 3rd place Tollgate E 6-4 with Richard Spence winning all his games for Lawford.
In Division Three, Tollgate F move one point clear at the top with a couple of games in hand over teams around them. They beat Pegasus D 9-1 in a match which saw four games being won in 5 sets. Tollgate won three of them, with Tim Huxtable winning the only point of the evening for Pegasus. Ethan Lloyd and Arran Hutchinson ended the night unbeaten. Second in the table, Pegasus C, lost 4-6 against Tollgate G. Andy Huang won all his games for Tollgate. St James E beat Gt Horkesley C 7-3 to move a bit further away from the relegation zone. John Marshall proved just too strong for his opponents, even with Ian Carter taking him the full distance. Gilberd A had a 7-3 win against Pegasus E to move them into 3rd in the table. Olly Fifield and Robert Wood-Norman achieved maximums for the Gilberd. Gt Horkesley D beat Dedham B 6-4. Gt Horkesley only turned up with two players, so it seemed all the more impressive that Keith Monk and Paul Naret-Barnes won all their games for Gt Horkesley.
Dedham C move back to the top of Division Four after beating Gt Horkesley E 7-3. However, none of Dedham’s players were able to beat Aron Jordan of Gt Horkesley. Pegasus G beat their sister team, Pegasus F, 7-3. Just like the Dedham-Gt Horkesley match, Garry Eames won all his games for the team that lost. Gilberd B beat Tollgate H 9-1, with Harry Lynch and Bright Bedding winning all their games for the Gilberd.
Tollgate E extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division after beating Pegasus A 9-1. Colin Stallwood maintained his 100% record by winning all his games. Steve Pennell also achieved a maximum. Rowhedge A lose ground on Tollgate after only managing to turn up against Walton A with two players, with the game ending 5-5. Gary Young won all his games for Walton. Rowhedge B and Lawford A also played out a 5-5 draw. Daniel Shelley ended the night unbeaten for Lawford.
In Division One, two teams (Tollgate D and Gt Horkesley A) are now on equal points at the top of the table. Tollgate D had the better of weeks out of the two after beating Walton B 7-3. Steve Scholz won all his games for Tollgate. Gt Horkesley A beat Tollgate C 6-4 with Ken Lewis carrying on his strong form, winning all his games for Gt Horkesley.
