League Press Report - Week 3

Gt Horkesley C and Tollgate D currently lead the way in Division Two. Tollgate D had a very impressive 9-1 win over Pegasus D. Alastair Woodcock beat Daryl Lott to gain Pegasus’ only point of the evening. Gt Horkesley C beat the newly promoted St James D 7-3, however no player could achieve maximum wins. It could have been an even better result for Gt Horkesley if Colin Brown and Steve Lowe won the 5th set in the games they lost. Tollesbury B are 4 points behind in third place, having played one match less. They drew 5-5 with Lawford B. Bryan Speller (Tollesbury) was the player of the match, winning all three of his games. He did not find it easy, however, as in two of his games, Speller came back from two sets down to win 3-2. Pegasus C narrowly beat Dedham B 6-4.

In Division Three, Lawford C continue to be the most impressive team in the whole entire league. They have now won their first three games 10-0, with the latest coming against Pegasus F. Lawford are now 15 points clear of second place Dedham C and it begs the question as to whether or not they will ever be beaten this season. Dedham made sure to use this result to their advantage as they leaped in front of Pegasus F by beating St James E 6-4. The Gilberd A and Lawford D played out a 5-5 draw.

Tollgate F are still the current leaders in Division Four. However, Tollesbury C are hot on their heels after beating them 7-3. Shirley Carroll remains unbeaten this season, only dropping one set against Callum Wilkinson. The Gilberd B are close behind in third place, brushing aside Lawford E 9-1. CRGS A picked up their first win of the season, beating Rowhedge K 7-3.

The top of the Premier Division couldn’t be any closer. Only two points separate the top three teams, with all three teams having played the same amount of matches. Gt Horkesley A beat St James B 8-2. Tollgate B had a good 8-2 win over Pegasus A, whilst Walton A beat Rowhedge C 7-3.

Lawford A overtook Tollesbury A in Division One by beating them 9-1. Rowhedge F beat Rowhedge D 6-4 and Tollgate C drew 5-5 with Pegasus B.
