Tollesbury A are looking to be the surprise package of Division One as the second week of matches have all been completed. After just managing to escape relegation last season, they have now picked up two wins from two matches and currently sit top of the table. Their most recent win came against Rowhedge F, winning 8-2. Tom Lewis and Paul Freeman both won all of their matches. Tollesbury play Lawford A next week who sit just behind them in second place. They beat Gt Horkesley B 7-3, with Michael Emmerson winning all of his matches for Lawford. Rowhedge E made a huge improvement on their heavy loss last week by thrashing St James C 10-0. Walton B beat Rowhedge D 7-3 to move up to third in the table.
In Division Two, only 4 points separate nine of the ten teams. Gt Horkesley C are currently top of the table, even though they lost 7-3 to Pegasus C. Tollesbury B recorded a very impressive 9-1 victory against Gt Horkesley D in their first match of the season. Hazel Hume was able to salvage the single point for Gt Horkesley against Bryan Speller, who apparently has “never lost to Hazel before”! Tollgate D had a good 7-3 victory against Dedham B. However, no player was able to beat George Berry of Dedham, who picked up his team’s only points. Pegasus D and Lawford B played out a 5-5 draw.
There were two big victories in Division Three last week. Lawford C wiped aside their sister team, Lawford D, 10-0. This means Lawford C have made a perfect start to the season, obtaining 30 points from 30 (winning all three of their games 10-0). Pegasus F are second after beating Dedham D 10-0. Pegasus E are just behind, beating Dedham C 7-3.
In Division Four, Tollgate F have some clear space between them and the team that is currently sitting in second place. They beat Pegasus G 10-0 and are 8 points in front of Tollesbury C, however Tollesbury have a game in hand after their match got postponed with Gt Horkesley E. Tollgate E beat Pegasus H 6-4.
Tollgate A move further ahead at the top of the Premier Division after beating Tollgate B 8-2. Dedham A had a more successful week than their first match in week one, even though losing 6-4 to Pegasus A. Rowhedge A had a good victory over St James B, winning 6-4. However, youngster Sam Hume of St James did well to win all of his matches and pick up some valuable points. St James A beat Rowhedge C 6-4.
