No matter how many matches have been played, a 100% record is an incredible feat by anyone. Jun Hin Jonathan Ma of Colchester Royal Grammar School A was able to continue his form by winning all 3 of his games against Tollgate F. It means Jun has now won 30 out of 30 games; the best record in the whole of the Colchester and District Table Tennis League. This helped the school beat Tollgate 7-3 at the end of the evening. Rowhedge K continued their impressive form, beating Pegasus G 9-1 and consolidating their top spot of the division.
In the Premier Division, Rowhedge A did Gt Horkesley A a big favour in their bid to be “Colchester Champions”, after only fielding two players on the night. Even with John Andrews and David Moss playing, Gt Horkesley whitewashed the Rowhedge team 10-0. Neil Freeman, playing up from Tollgate C in Division One, guided Tollgate B to a 5-5 draw with St James B winning all 3 of his games.
Walton A had the chance to close the gap on the top two in Division One, but after only fielding two players found themselves already 0-3 down before the matches had even started. However come the end of the night, Derek Willis and Colin Dearman won all of their matches, as well as the doubles, to finish the night with a 7-3 victory. Tollesbury A recorded a second straight win of the season. They beat Rowhedge E 7-3, with Scott Bills on fine form yet again. Colin Powell, playing up from Rowhedge F, took Scott to 5 sets in the final game of the evening. But it was Scott who prevailed to help their chances of survival. Gt Horkesley C also boosted their chances of survival with the same scoreline over St James C. Mark Lewis finished the night with a maximum.
It was the “Clash of the Titans” in Division Two, with the top two teams battling it out for the top spot. Lawford A came out on top against Gt Horkesley D 8-2, with Steve Holland being the only player to win a game for Gt Horkesley (as well as the doubles). Lawford now move 7 points clear at the top. Lawford B drew 5-5 with Dedham B, whilst there were wins for Pegasus B and Tollgate D.
There were no games recorded this week for Division Three.
