League Press Report - Week 10

Division Four is usually the division where two teams are head and shoulders above the rest, but this season is different. Tollgate F stay top after beating CRGS A 6-4. Jun Hin Jonathan Ma won all of his games for CRGS to make the scoreline look more respectable. Only 5 points separate the next four teams below the top spot. Gt Horkesley E have now entered the race with a good 7-3 victory against Lawford E. Both Keith Monk and Janet Faiers got maximums for Gt Horkesley E. Pegasus H beat Tollesbury C 6-4. Tollesbury only turned up with two players and had Rob King to thank for lessening the damage as he won all of his games.

With just over half the season left to play, nothing can be taken for granted just yet. The two teams at the bottom of the Premier Division will still have hope they can stay up, as only 10 points separate the bottom five teams. Additionally, the bottom two have a game in hand over the next couple of teams above them. Pegasus A had an excellent 6-4 win over Walton A. Ian Whiteside picked up a maximum for Pegasus. St James A also picked up some precious points against one of the strongest teams in the division, Tollgate A. St James lost 7-3 but each player picked up a win to help their chances of staying up. Rowhedge B thrashed Tollgate B 10-0 to move further ahead at the top. Dedham A could only field two players as they went down 9-1 against Rowhedge A. Mel Rampton picked up the only point for Dedham.

In Division One, Pegasus B beat St James B 8-2. Duncan Elloy won a maximum to move Pegasus within two points of the top team, Rowhedge E.

Tollgate D recorded another win in Division Two as they heavily beat St James D 9-1. Tony Oswick won St James’ only point of the evening. Gt Horkesley C put more pressure on Gt Horkesley D by beating them 9-1. This result leaves Gt Horkesley D 9 points adrift from safety, having played a game more than St James D. Tollesbury B beat lowly Pegasus D 8-2 to move up to 3rd in the table. Pegasus C remain 2nd after beating Rowhedge G 7-3. Eric Melvin won all of his games for Pegasus.

Division Three saw the top team, Lawford C, beat the bottom team, Dedham D, 10-0.
