With the Colchester & District Table Tennis League back in action following the Christmas break, Gt Horkesley A made sure they started the second half of the season like they ended the first. Maximum wins for Colin Bennett, Paul Broxton and Michael Wright means they now lead the top by 27 points over their nearest rivals, Rowhedge C. This result leaves Pegasus A only 2 points above the relegation zone, who are hoping they don’t go down after only one season in the top division. Tollgate B recorded a good 8-2 victory over Rowhedge B. Nigel Hodder the only player to win all of their matches.
Tollesbury A continue to struggle in Division One, losing 2-8 against Walton A. Patrick Gilbert did well winning the two for Tollesbury. Dedham A did no harm to their promotion hopes after beating Gt Horkesley C 9-1 away from home. However, the Horkesley club did only turn up with two players. Rowhedge D had a close 6-4 win over Tollgate C to keep the top tight.
In Division Two, Lawford A remain top after dismantling Pegasus C 8-2. Peter Freeborough ending the night unbeaten. Pegasus B missed the chance to really close the gap with Gt Horkesley D, after only managing a draw against lowly Lawford B, who will be very thankful for the 5 points they received. Dedham B piled more misery on bottom team, Gt Horkesley F, after beating them 8-2. In the only other match of the week, Tollgate D beat Rowhedge G 6-4.
St James D thrashed Dedham C 10-0 to move 13 points clear at the top of Division Three. Pegasus D beat their ‘F’ team 8-2 in the hope to cement their place in the top two. However Tollesbury B were not going to be phased by this, after winning 9-1 against Pegasus E.
No results have yet to be recorded this week for Division Four.
