St James C top D1 after flawless start to week 1

Many believe that Colchester Division 1 looks to be the most interesting division this year and results from the first week show why.  Newly promoted St James C sit proudly on top after week one, taking all 10 points from a very experienced Rowhedge  E.  The team of Joe Andrews and the Hume brothers will be a handful for all their rivals -providing of course that they can all play each week. Second on 9 points are Rowhedge D, with Oli Reynolds and Neil Huatan unbeaten against a Tollgate C side including Premier Division ‘regular’ Martyn Green, who took the consolation singleton . The A teams of Dedham and Walton were hard to separate last year finishing 3rd and 4th respectively and that is where they find themselves after the first matches this year with Walton’s 7 points against Tollsbury being eclipsed by 8 from Dedham in their victory over  Horkesley C. Finally, ‘down from the Premier’  St James B met ‘ up from Division 2’ Rowhedge F and fought out a 5-5 draw with Ian Fielder’s 3 the highlight. It will be a fascinating series of matches from here…
