Lawford B lead the way in Division 2

After two high-scoring wins, Lawford B make good progress in their case for promotion. Both games were against Gt Horkesley teams and their first was against the 'E' team. Lawford came out 9-1 winners, with James Tindle and Andrea Alleyne winning all 3 of their games. The second was against a strong Horkesley F team, made up of Ian Carter, Hazel Hume and David Jones. Ian Carter gave his opponents a strong challenge with 2 wins from 3.

In joint 2nd place are Gt Horkesley D and Pegasus B, 4 points behind Lawford (albeit with a game in hand). Gt Horkesley had a very good 7-3 win over Rowhedge G. Steve Holland was on fine form as usual, coming out on top in all three of his games. Edward Rudge gave Steve a run for his money, losing 11-13 in the 5th set. Pegasus B had a straightforward victory over their 'C' team. Dave Whiting was the only victor for Pegasus C, beating Michael Sant in 5 sets.

Newly promoted Gt Horkesley E are finding Division 2 hard going, losing 3-7 to Pegasus C, for whom Eric Melvin scored a maximum; but for the second week running, 50% of sets went to five and it was a later than 23:30 finish. This suggests that the team currently at the bottom are no push overs!

The other team currently in the bottom two is Dedham B. However, they could pick up a lot of points in the future if George Berry is played as a consistent player. George completed a fine maximum against Rowhedge G, beating the ever-improving Elliott Attrill in 4 sets.

Tollgate D had it tough going as they lost 1-9 to Gt Horkesley D. Michael Taylor beat another improving player, Matt Rogers, in straight sets.

With Lawford B having a week off in 'Week 4', there could be a few teams slowly catching them up, or even overtake them in that much coveted top spot.
