Eight games into the season and a young Sam Hume is proving to be tough opponent to overcome in Division One. Playing for St James C in their match against Rowhedge D, Sam overcame the in-form Neil Huatan in 4 sets showing he is a force to be reckoned with. St James came out comfortable winners 8-2 with John Hatley getting the other maximum. Dedham A are not too far behind after thrashing struggling Tollesbury A 9-1, who need some kind of magic to ignite their season. There were also wins for Gt Horkesley C and Walton B against St James B and Rowhedge F respectively.
Gt Horkesley F did little to help their case for survival in Division Two. They went down 3-7 against Pegasus B, who are fighting near the top of the table for promotion. However, they’ll have to get past the unstoppable teams of Gt Horkesley D and Lawford A to do so. Horkesley D recorded a strong 8-2 win over Lawford B, with both Steve Holland and Pete Witton remaining unbeaten. Rowhedge G against Pegasus C ended in a draw, as did Gt Horkesley E and Dedham B.
In Division Three, St James D look certain to gain promotion back to Division Two. They thrashed Gilberd B 10-0, even without the strong Tony Oswick playing. Another strong challenger for promotion is Tollesbury B. They beat Lawford C 7-3, with Rob King winning all three of his matches.
The youngsters of Rowhedge I continue to impress in Division 4 after an 8-2 victory over Lawford D. Lauren James is showing fine form with 85.71% so far in the division.It was 1st vs. 2nd in the Premier Division this week. Gt Horkesley A hosted Rowhedge C with the match ending in a 5-5 draw. Rowhedge A had a good 9-1 win over struggling Gt Horkesley B who sit bottom of the table. There was also a win for Rowhedge B against Pegasus A.
