Dedham lead the way after 3 weeks

Week 2 in Division 1 was notable for some hard fought encounters, the closest being a 5-5 draw between Walton A and Horkesley B. Mark Lewis lead the way again with 3 more for the away team but a double apiece from the dynamic duo of Derek Willis and Colin Dearman for Walton ensured the points were shared. Rowhedge D v Rowhedge E was always going to be a tight match and Martin Edwards’ unbeaten evening ensured a narrow win for the E team over their club rivals. Chris Brook matched Edwards’ 3 starring for Rowhedge’s  F team  against Dedham A but Dedham’s strength in depth carried them to a 6-4 win with Paul Tracey  and Mel Rampton each taking 2 points home with them. Finally, a 3-2-1 from Martyn Green , Dave Fiddeman and Annabelle Rodriguez for Tollgate C left Walton B with just  3 points to take back to the seaside.

That left Walton A sharing top spot in the table with Dedham A at the end of week 2, leading us nicely into Week 3.The two teams met on Dedham’s carpet. Dedham were at full strength, with Mike Tracey’s return with a maximum being supported by his father Paul taking 2, a feat matched by Dave Binns for the visitors in his seasons debut, a 7-3  win for the home team being the final score. The 2 teams that came down from the Premier have had indifferent starts to the new campaign but both flexed their muscles this week with 7-3 victories. Tollesbury’s star was Paddy Gilbert with 3 against Tollgate C, while St James B’s Ian Fielder continued his unbeaten run so far with 3 more against his club’s C team. Kevin James is also unbeaten to date,  despite having played against some of the best in the division. His latest 3 helped gain Walton B a 5-5 draw with Rowhedge E.
