Jake Collins of Gt Horkesley A & Colchester Chairman John Andrews

Gt Horkesley A are the early leaders in the all new Colchester Premier Division. Former Ipswich champion Jake Collins has made an impressive start  with six straight wins as his team beat both H20 Rowhedge A & B teams. They demolished the A team 9-1 with Aimee Sparkes beating a winless Kevin Gowlett in straight sets but she lost out to John Andrews, also in three. Richard Goodhand unveiled his conventional sponge rubber to great effect, without dropping a set on his way to a maximum. However, he lost out to Fred Button from Rowhedge B in an 8-2 win whose anti-spin caused him some difficulties! Colin Bennett replaced Sparkes winning two, defeated only by Garry Cattermole. Last years champions Tollgate A beat new boys St James B 10-0 with Jane Li recording an impressive triple following her holiday training in China. Ipswich Veteran champion Andy Warner has made an impressive start playing for Tollgate B defeating all three A team players in a 6-4 defeat that may return to haunt them! He beat James Denyer in a 5-5 draw at St James A in a topsy-turvey game; 8, 11, -2, -1, 13! This puts his team third with H20 Rowhedge B fourth as they beat Gt Horkesley B 6-4 with Gary Cattermole claiming the player-of-the match award for his three wins.
