Great Horkesley Teams Share the Points in Division 2

In the first rivalry game of the season in Division 2, Gt Horkesley D and their respective E team drew 5-5 in what was a very even match. The main highlight of the match came in the first game with Steve Holland losing to Hazel Hume in 5 sets. It was a good result for Hazel as Steve maintains a very high percentage in the division each season. No player remained unbeaten, although only 3 games were won in 3 sets, undermining the fact that it was a very tight contest.

St James C only lie 4 points behind Gt Horkesley D in 2nd place, plus having a game in hand, with week 3 being a 'vacant' week for them. Tollesbury B sit 4th in the table thanks to a good 7-3 win over St James D. Tollesbury won the last 3 games, with Martin Lewis unbeaten throughout the evening. He won his last game against Tony Oswick 16-14 in the 5th set and the game lasted a whole 35 minutes in total!

Rowhedge F are just a point behind thanks to a comfortable 9-1 win over Pegasus C. Both Nigel Claydon and Chris Brook were unbeaten and so was Andrew Harvey, until the very last game when Clive Forster managed to defeat Andrew 11-9 in the final set. Dedham B beat Pegasus B 6-4, with Gordon Fairchild going unbeaten. A special mention to Len Meakin, playing for Dedham, for making a 22 year comeback! He enjoyed winning his last game in straight sets.

This week sees all 10 teams in action (only happens twice this season!), with the most notable fixture being between Rowhedge G and Rowhedge F.
