Three Teams Share the Top Spot in Division 2

We are almost halfway through the season in Division 2 and at the top of the table, it is looking like the most exciting season in years. Three teams are all on 47 points and St James C didn't do any harm to their position by thrashing Tollesbury B 10-0. The usual solid trio of Rob King, Martin Lewis and Paul Freeman could not do enough to stop John Fenton, John Hatley and Colin Beaumont from completing a fine win. Only 2 matches went the distance and they were between Rob & Colin and the doubles. However, the Clacton team did well to come through both games 11-7 and 11-4 in the 5th.

Rowhedge F played St James C a week before and it was no surprise that it was a closely fought battle, ending 5-5 at the end of the night. One thing to point out though is both Ferdy Rodriguez and Tony Oswick were playing up from their 'D' team (who currently lie bottom), who did well to win 3 games between them. Chris Brook was PotM yet again as he pushed aside all of St James' players. Although it wasn't as easy as he would've liked against John Hatley; Chris only just won the game 13-11 in the 5th.

Gt Horkesley D managed to keep up the pace at the top with a comfortable 9-1 victory over Rowhedge G. Steve Holland, Pete Witton and Colin Brown were on form yet again for Horkesley. Ed Rudge did well for Rowhedge by beating Colin in 5 sets, after coming down from 2 sets down!

Gt Horkesley E couldn't match the result of their sister team as they went down 3-7 against Dedham B. Tony Watson and Dale Everett won all 3 of their matches, with Stephen Haygreen winning his only game against David Jones.

There was a bottom-of-the-table clash between St James D and Pegasus B, with the latter coming out as the winners 7-3. Tony Eversden was in form as usual winning all 3 of his matches quite comfortably.

This week sees Rowhedge F play Gt Horkesley D which could be a pivotal moment to decide which team comes out on top before Christmas.
