Chris Jones, Jenny Clarke and Denise Thompson swept aside their close rivals with a comfortable victory. Both Chris and Jenny did well to win all 3 of their matches. But Jane Young for Horkesley H managed to salvage a point by beating Denise in 4 sets, winning 11-9 in the 4th. The final score overall was 9-1 to the G team. This leaves Horkesley G sit in 3rd position, but a couple of teams below them have a few games in hand and could quite easily make up the gap.
The 'battle of the schools' was played in the week and it was the current leaders, Gilberd B, who beat CRGS 8-2. Robert Wood-Norman won all of his matches, beating the usually formidable player, Brian Wong, in 4 sets.
University of Essex B couldn't close the gap on the Gilberd as they only just beat Lawford E, 6-4. Long Hei Chan keeps his 100% record in tact by winning all 3 of his games in straight sets. He could be one to watch for the future.
