Both unbeaten teams met in the final fixture before Christmas and it was last season's runner's-up Gt Horkesley A who came out on top against the reigning champions Tollgate A. Both sides were under-strength and it was new signing Paul Broxton that led the way with three good wins covering for Jake Collins. Colin Stallwood led the Tollgate team in the absence of skipper Greg Green lost out in two five setters but did manage to end Horkesley's skipper Mike Wright's unbeaten record. Richard Goodhand and Wright both won two, Goodhand coming back from two ends down to beat Stallwood but losing out to ex-Horkesley player Rui Campos. This result puts the village team ten points clear of their Stanway rivals at the halfway stage.
Gt Horkesley B breathe a little easier following their 10-0 whitewash of relegation threatened Tollesbury A. Kieran Hills, Wudong Liu and Mike Emmerson all won three to ease any fears the village team had. Neither Tollesbury or St James B have registered a single win in the first half of the season and barring a turn round in fortunes both looked doomed for the drop already.
St James A secured the bragging rites over their B team with Gill Locke and Colin Webber unbeaten, Andy Vincent piking up the second-strings only point , beating Felipe Rodriguez who won two.
