The penultimate 100% record was lost when two of the three remaining unbeaten Division Three teams came together; although Lawford C may possibly feel they were a little unlucky not to draw. Great Horkesley F emerged as 4-6 winners after a tremendously competitive evening. Horks’ M.O.M Steve Lowe won his three; although Andrea Alleyne; Ian Sherwood and James Tindal all put up a tremendous fight; where the typical victory margin was so slim that any result might have been possible. The ever improving young Matt Rogers more comfortably won two; and was seemingly cruising to victory in a third; until the experienced Andrea dug into her reserve tank and punished him. Dale Ticquet’s unusual style troubled all three of the Lawford trio; but not suffice to avoid them gaining all three sets; but it was a good effort from the young man ‘playing up’ in his first ever Division Three match; more especially as he has recently been seriously ill in hospital. Matt and Steve ensured overall victory by yet another uncomfortably close margin of victory in the doubles. Lawford C will retain their table topping position despite this loss; but Horks’ do have games in hand.
