Division 2 - Six Games go to Five Sets in Match

In the match of the week, Gt Horkesley and Pegasus C share the points in what could've been a much bigger victory for either team. Pegasus C raced into an early 3-0 lead, with Clive Forster, Gordon Fairchild and John Robinson winning their first singles match each. Gordon and John beat Hazel Hume and Roger Warren in their respective singles 11-8 in the 5th. It was then up to Hazel to stop Pegasus gaining an even bigger advantage, and she did so by beating Clive 11-7 in the 5th. This is where the turnaround starter, as Ian Carter then beat John 11-7 in the final set to set up Roger beating Gordon in straight sets. Of course, the doubles would go the full distance and it did so with Ian & Hazel just edging out John & Clive 13-11 in the 5th. 4 straight wins for Gt Horkesley,  but they were not able to make it 5 as John and Clive then won their next singles matches. Ian summed up how close the night was to win his final match to end the night on a 5-5 draw.

Gt Horkesley E remain joint top of the table, even having not played a game in the week, so they have a game in hand over a couple of teams around them. Roger Clarke played his first match against his old team, Tollesbury B, in the week for Rowhedge G. With all Tollesbury B players wanting to beat Roger to gain a bit of friendly revenge, Roger needed to concentrate to stop them doing so. He lost his first game against Paul Freeman in 4 sets, but came back strongly to beat both Rob King and Martin Lewis. The match ended in a 6-4 victory for Tollesbury; Paul Freeman receiving his first Player of the Match award.

St James D and Pegasus B lay at the foot of the table (St James just above), but as both teams have a couple of games in hand over a lot of the teams in the division, they could soon shoot up the table.
