MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 7 SEPTEMBER 2018

Northfield A have started to close the gap on their rivals at the top of Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League as they scored a maximum 10-0 victory over Ormesby G. Although being 10-0 the match was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Tom Webster, Gary Whittle and Lee Russell all scored hat tricks for Northfield.  Two of the sets, the doubles, Tom Webster and Gary Whittle beat Olly Flight and John Daley was by a narrow margin of 11-8 in the decider after the Ormesby players led by 2 games to 1.  Olly Flight took Lee Russell to 5 games after leading 2-0.

With the intention of gaining honours, Nunthorpe B kept up their momentum with a 9-1 victory over Ormesby F Wheelers with hat tricks from Barbara Kearney, Bob Evans and Trevor Teasdale.  The doubles was the only game won by Ormesby.

Beaumont Nomads B also kept their interest in the title with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby H with Sam Hugill, Bruce Lowther and Jane Lynas all unbeaten.  This victory was a true reflection of the score line.

Nunthorpe B still lead the division with 113 points from 15 matches.  Beaumont are second with 112 from 16, but the strong favourites are Northfield with 111 from 13.

Westbourne B are outsiders with 110 from 16 after they had dropped 4 points to Ormesby E winning only 6-4, mainly due to hat tricks from Ormesby Cadet Eve Witterick.  Lee Kelly and Andy Greason won 2 each for Westbourne B.
