With a 7-3 victory over Darlington Dolphins B, Northfield B have established a strong lead at the top of Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League.

For Northfield B, Paul Dale and Jane Durham both scored hat-tricks, whilst Ben Wrann won one. For Darlington B, Paul Hume and Kieran O’Callaghan both won one singles. The closest match was the victory for Ben Wrann when he defeated Alex Wardrop at 12-10 in the decider.

Two of Northfield B’s main rivals Westbourne B and Nunthorpe B spoilt each other’s chances by playing the close fought 6-4 victory for Westbourne B. Gary Pearson and Jason Lloyd both won two for Westbourne whilst Barbara Kearney was the star of the match scoring a hat trick for Nunthorpe B.   The closest win was Lloyds victory over Bob Evans at 11-9 in the decider. The doubles were won by Gary Pearson and Jason Lloyd at 14-12 in the fifth against Bob Evans and Trevor Teasdale.

Beaumont B kept their interest in the championship race with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby H with Malcolm Noble, Jane Lynas and Sam Hugill all scoring hat tricks.

These results give Northfield B a two point lead over Nunthorpe B with 62 points while Westbourne B are in third place with 56 and Beaumont B fourth with 55. Northfield B have the advantage of a match in hand and are unbeaten to date.
