MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 10 AUGUST 2018

The battle for Division Two of the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League became event closer last week when the two teams at the top of the division Beaumont Accountancy Nomads B and Nunthorpe B played a 5-5 draw. 

Barbara Kearney was the star of the match scoring a hat trick for Nunthorpe B only  needing to go to 4 games on one occasion, against Malcolm Noble where she won the last two games 12-10 and 14-12.  John Hanson and Trevor Teasdale both won one each for Nunthorpe with John Hanson beating Bruce Lowther 3-1 and Trevor Teasdale needing 5 games to beat Jane Lynas.  For Beaumont, Noble produced the best results with two victories. 

Current favourites for the championships, Northfield A, enhanced their challenge with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby F Wheelers.  Tom Webster, Gary Whittle and Lee Russell all scored hat tricks although Russell was fortunate to beat Noel Thomas at 12-10 in the decider. 

These results mean that Beaumont B remain top with 86 points from 12 matches, while Nunthorpe B remain in second place with 84 from 12.  Northfield A are favourites as they are unbeaten to date with 80 points from 9.  Westbourne B are the outsiders with 78 from 11 matches.
