Detailed analysis of the handicap system used by the Clacton and District Table Tennis League for handicapped events.

is difficult.

However, the attached is a 'rough and ready' analysis of the League’s handicapped events over recent seasons. The charts show how many matches have been won by the 'better' player and how many by the 'lesser' player.

The overall aim should be that the 'better' and 'lesser' players should each win about 50% of their matches, with as many matches as possible going to five sets. This would give a broad indication that the system is fair to all players.

However, it must always be remembered that handicapping is not an exact science!
