In the Premier Division young Jake Norton hit a fine maximum to lead Groves to a well deserved 6 4 victory at County Officers A, and he was well backed up by Russell Benstead and Terry Marshall. Elsewhere Pulford consolidated second spot with an emphatic victory over bottom placed Select and Ken Connor and Mark Pugh ensured Newton remain in contention following a good 8 2 victory over the Officers first team.
Division 1 action saw Paul Ingham show his full potential but he was unable to prevent Groves B defeating his C team 6 4, and John Allera was another unbeaten player as Barrow A forced a draw on an adjoining table against Groves A. Polina Petrova hit two vital singles wins for lowly Saughall Port against champions Officers B in a 3 7 reverse, especially as in another relegation clash Newton B threw away a 4 0 lead against Beechwood to eventually lose 4 6.
In division 2 Jack Auckland ensured Tarporley Electric remain in contention following a fine 7 3 success over Officers E, and Jim Whitaker hit a maximum as Barrow B comfortably outpointed Groves D by a similar scoreline. Elsewhere Charlie Cooke led leaders Officers C to a comprehensive 9 1 victory over lowly Officers D.
In division 3 Officers F went back to the top of the table following back to back 7 3 successes over Groves E and a weakened Tarporley Electric A team.
