Two of the outstanding Odex handicap quarter finals were played recently and both resulted in victories for the Saughall club. Dave Ash and the Port team hosted Groves B in an all division 1 tie and after a very close match they ran out victors by just 15 points, Polina Petrova once again proving to be the star at this type of encounter. Saughall Deva travelled to play Beechwood and in a remarkable encounter trailed from game 1 right through to game 9 before snatching a very late narrow 11 point win through a delighted Richard Scott victory.
Premier division results saw Jens Andersen lead County Officers into third spot following an emphatic 9 1 scoreline at Groves, and Shaun Hall hit a fine maximum for Newton against Pulford in a 7 3 victory. Charlie Cooke led the Select team in their clash with County Officers A and hit a couple of very good wins but the Officers prevailed 7 3 in an entertaining clash.
In division 1 Mark Simpson led leaders Officers B to a comfortable 9 1 success over lowly Newton C, and Steve Clift was undefeated as Groves A narrowly outpointed Saughall Port 6 4. Richard Scott was again in fine form as Saughall Deva recorded a tremendous 8 2 win over the very useful Groves B squad.
Andrew Taylor hit a maximum in an important relegation match in division 2 as Officers E edged past their own D squad 6 4.
