The Robert Moreton Shield final resulted in a comfortable win for the re vamped Barrow D squad over Groves D with all the victorious team playing their part. Paul Curley was in top form and was well backed up by Gary Owen and captain Veronica Nicholas.

Linda Powell and her team soon bounced back from any disappointment with a terrific 5 2 victory over division 2 champions Saughall Port in the Burrell Cup semi and now face Gareth Hughes and his Barrow B team in the final. Lynsey Pellew- Nabbs was in top form against Saughall and hit the two vital singles wins that led to victory.

In the Premier division Ray Worthington and Andy Eagles led Pulford to a 9 1 victory against County Officers and the village team then cemented third spot with a similar scoreline against Pulford A, Nev Lacey and Dave Southall hitting fine maximums.

Mike Mercer was again undefeated as Newton B outpointed their C team 8 2 in a division 1 fixture, although his clash with Stan Houghton was of a very good standard.

Barrow D had a terrific 10 0 win over a fighting Groves E trio to clinch promotion from division 3 by a single point, Ben Caveen coming into the team to replace Veronica for this vital fixture and he played his part to a maximum.

Steve Green hit a fine maximum for the Veterans when they were forced to travel to Bolton on Good Friday for a Lancs/ Cheshire match and backed up by Rob Wylie and Wayne Taylor they forced an admirable draw.
