The Chester/ Ellesmere Port league played the first series of matches last weekend in Bolton in the Lancs/Cheshire open age Premier division , a title they have won on two recent occasions. Unfortunately neither of the top two ranked players were available but nevertheless Aaron Beech and Steve Green, backed by a reserve performed brilliantly and 4 2 wins were secured against very strong Glossop, Preston and Trafford trios. Unfortunately the last match against Warrington ended in a narrow loss as talented Jake Shaw narrowly outpointed the Chester duo but overall a very successful day. With 3 matches to play in April, including favourites Liverpool , a full EPOCH squad could yet decide the title.

A strong Second team squad competed recently in division 1 but victories proved hard to come by, confirming the strength of this 2 county league. A 4 2 victory over Bury A and a draw against Manchester proved the high points , but defeats were suffered against relegated Southport and a strong Manchester A team led by former Chester league player Arek Wojkiak. Andy Eagles led by example and was well backed up by Mark Pugh and Jens Andersen.

Merry Christmas to one and all and a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Cheers and Thanks!
