In the Premier division youngsters Tom Peake and Jake Norton backed up Groves captain Terry Marshall as they hit a welcome 10 0 victory over a Select One team that still managed to take 5 games to a final decider. Elsewhere Steve Green was in untouchable form as title favourites Barrow cruised past a spirited County Officers squad and on an adjoining table Roger Lee hit a fine maximum to enable Newton C to earn a draw against Officers A.
In division 1 Philip Beech was in top form as Beechwood narrowly defeated Groves C 6 4 and Graham Boyd showed all his class as he led Groves A to a comprehensive 7 3 victory over Saughall Deva.
At the top of division 2 Charlie Cooke hit a fine maximum as Officers C returned from playing Groves D with a terrific 7 3 success that really opened up the top of the table, especially as in form Tarporley Electric defeated a confident Barrow B side 8 2, Jack Auckland being undefeated yet again. At the other end of the division Nigel Campbell led Officers E to an important 6 4 away victory at Barrow C and the villagers are now in a serious position.
Laurence Cartwright hit his first ever maximum as Newton C surprised Tarporley Electric A with a resounding 9 1 scoreline in their division 3 clash, and impressive Jonas Potyka made his debut for Officers F and was undefeated in a 5 5 draw at Saughall Institute.
