Two of the Veterans teams entertained sides from Wigan in Lancs/Cheshire league matches this week and finished with one victory and a draw. Andy Eagles led the A team to a share of the points against Wigan first team and on an adjoining table Jens Andersen hit a fine maximum as the B team comfortably outpointed Wigan B 8 2.

In the local Premier division the clash of the two County Officers teams resulted in an 8 2 victory for the first team, and elsewhere Newton A were forced to fight for every point to secure victory by a similar scoreline against a Select trio , the highlight being a 15 13 deciding game victory for returning Mike Mercer over Andy Moulton.

Divisional cup results saw Mike Tattum lead Groves C to a terrific 5 4 win at Saughall Port, and Graham Boyd ensured that Groves A reached the semis in division 1 at the expense of Newton C.

In division 2 to complete an excellent week for the Groves club Lynsey Pellew -Nabbs was undefeated as the D side eased past Officers D 5 1 and elsewhere Andrew Taylor was in excellent form for Officers E as they pulled off a terrific 5 4 victory over the talented Tarporley Electric squad.
