News Report wc 25 April 2016

The Chester/Ellesmere Port league entered two teams into the National Cup , open to every league in the country and all ages, and is the most prestigious trophy played for. We are pleased to say team 1 won the Group held in Yorkshire with victories over the powerful Leeds team together with a 4 1 success over Stockton and now travel to Wellingborough in June to contest the quarter finals. Congratulations go to Shaun Hall and veteran Tomasz Rzeszotko, a powerful combination at this level and we wish them every success in their quest.

Unfortunately the 2nd team of Aaron Beech and Joe Killoran failed in their bid to win Group 7 in Derby where they faced holders Sheffield, a very strong Nottingham pair plus a useful Chesterfield team but they gave a very good account of themselves and gained useful experience.

On the local front Premier side Newton faced County Officers in the Odex handicap final and the trio of Hall, Pugh and Lee just edged home by 11 points against the in form division 1 champions who included the newly crowned Joe Farrington singles winner Keith Bartlett.
