News Report wc 12 Dec 2016

In the Premier division Groves included new signing Jordyn Layfield, but although she recorded two fine wins it was not enough to save the team from a narrow 4 6 loss at the hands of County Officers for whom Andy Taylor was undefeated.

In division 1 Keith Roper was in top form as County Officers A outpointed leaders Groves B by a 6 4 scoreline to close the gap at the top. Unbeaten Newton B travelled to Saughall Deva with a strong trio expecting a positive result against a team second from bottom but struggled against a determined home squad and eventually had to settle for a 6 4 victory, Mike Mercer once again hitting a maximum.

Barrow B hit top spot in division 2 following a comprehensive 8 2 home victory over lowly Tarporley, Jim Whitaker unbeaten for the leaders, and Andy Moulton continued his fine run with 3 terrific wins for Electric Sports as they forced a draw away at Groves D. Despite a maximum from Bryan Fitzpatrick Barrow C went down 4 6 to fellow strugglers County Officers D, a welcome victory for John Ashton's squad.

In division 3 County Officers E hit top spot following a comprehensive 8 2 victory at home to newcomers Groves E, Andrew Taylor proving to be an exceptional signing for the league leaders as he eased to another 3 fine wins. Eddie Jones was another player in unbeatable form as he led lowly Officers F to a fine draw at home to Electric Sports A who welcomed back Janet Timewell following an injury.

Thank you and the league committee would like to wish you and your families a Very Happy Christmas!
Regards,
Dave T
