In the clash between the two undefeated teams in the Premier division it was Newton who came out on top with a 7-3 scoreline against a full strength Barrow line up. Slovakian Milan Puchala was the star for the victors, hitting a memorable treble and then partnering newly crowned Liverpool champion Shaun Hall to an emphatic doubles victory over the powerful Beech/Taylor combination. Barrow remain top and up into second place come challengers Pulford , led by Florin Barbus, as they defeated a sporting Newton A squad 10-0 to have an outside chance of the title. Jeremy Lappin played well for the losing team, which included Vietnamese student Tung Pham playing his final league match following his graduation.
In division 1 a depleted Newton B side went down to bottom placed Barrow B and Philip Hough played well as Groves defeated their own B team 6-4.
Linda Powell was in top form as division 2 title hopefuls Groves D moved within 2 points of their objective with a comprehensive 8-2 scoreline over doomed Groves C, and James Deutsch returned to the ranks of the in form County Officers C team as they continued their fine run with a comprehensive 7-3 win over the Officers B side.
Ian Roper hit a good maximum as County Officers D stay in pole position following a hard fought 7-3 victory over Electric Sports A, and Stuart Shipley was in top form for the Officers E team in a similar result against the Officers G squad. Young Tom Bawn continues to impress and he led the Officers F side to a terrific 6-4 away win at the experienced Barrow D side.
