Shaun Hall maintained his unbeaten start to the season as he eased to a comfortable maximum for Newton in their Premier clash with rivals Pulford. Teammates Mark Pugh and Neil Powell hit two wins apiece in an 8-2 victory, Pulford’s only reply was a point each for Simon Jones and Florin Barbus. In a cup semi final clash Danny Russell was in terrific form for Barrow as they out pointed a useful Newton A squad including debutants Nev Lacey, a Clwyd Vets county player and talented Scott Fletcher. Milan Puchala was a lone Newton success in a 6- 1 defeat.
Division 1 highlights included another fine performance by leaders Pulford B as they defeated rivals Groves A 7-3, captain Mike Phelan in particularly good form. Elsewhere Barry Hough hit a maximum as Groves B recorded a 9-1 scoreline away at struggling Saughall Port, and John Allera led Barrow A to an important 6-4 victory over a useful Newton B trio.
Division 2 leaders County Officers B came away from Barrovians having suffered a real setback, losing 7-3 to last years division 3 champions who remain in contention for another promotion spot. Saughall Deva had to fight hard to come away from Tarporley with a draw and Bryn Davies hit a fine maximum for Officers C in a comfortable 8-2 victory over Electric Sports. However in an earlier match Jack Auckland had led the Sports to an important 7-3 win over Groves C, he defeated top player Mike Moss only to lose his maximum chances to experienced Laurie Williams.
