The Veterans Premier division team entertained a strong  Manchester league side in an important Lancs/Cheshire clash at the Groves club last week, the home team fielding the same trio that accounted for Preston 7-3 three weeks ago. After falling behind 0-2 the home side rallied brilliantly and ran out victorious by a similar scoreline with Mark Pugh undefeated once again and showing the form that could win him the singles title later in the year. He was ably backed up by teammates Wayne Percival and Tomasz Halucha and this result should ensure Premier survival next season when it is hoped top player Tomasz Rzeszotko will have recovered from injury.

In the Odex Trophy cup competition quarter finals Premier division team, Pulford, narrowly out pointed division 1 outfit Whitby Sports with Tomasz Halucha well backed up by Dave Bruce and Jeremy Lappin, the eventual difference being 28 points. They were joined in the semis by Corus B who triumphed by only 7 points away at last seasons beaten finalists Groves A, Dave Fisher and Tung Pham leading the way with fine attacking play.

In the Sarl Williams trophy for divisions 2 and 3 the County Officers  teams had a very good week, four of their five teams progressing through round 2 to the quarter finals, and the remaining side has yet to play in an outstanding fixture. Colin Fergus and the B side comfortably defeated a sporting   Saughall Deva trio and on an adjoining table John Ashton led the F team to a fine 34 point victory over division 2 outfit Whitby Sports A.  Third division leaders Barrovians entertained Richard Moore and his Officers C squad from the second division and in a match of high quality the visitors triumphed by 44 and at Saughall Institute on the Monday evening the Officers D team out pointed the hosts to reach the quarter finals.

In two outstanding round 1 matches Lola Roberts led the Nothcote team to a very close 7 point success over Barrow E and Barrow F progressed at the expense of struggling Electric Sports.
