League report wc 27 January

In the Premier Division Corus B maintained their push for the title with a narrow 6-4 victory over Pulford, unbeaten Shaun Hall hitting a flawless maximum and Berkshire veteran Alan Cummings backing him up with two fine wins. Current champions British Steel do not aim to relinquish their title easily and In form Simon Jones led them to a terrific 10-0 scoreline against luckless County Officers who nevertheless fought for every point.

In division 1 leaders County Officers A swept aside a weakened Groves team whereas challengers Pulford A were held to another 6-4 scoreline , this time by bottom placed Whitby Sports, the seventh occasion this season they have recorded this result. Peter Cottam hit a maximum as Groves A continued there fine run with a draw against Beechwood, and captain Stuart Hambley ensured Corus C earned a draw with improving Barrow A. Saughall Port surprised Barrow B with their quality and Paul Arrich and Wayne Taylor led them to a terrific 8 -2 victory to move into fourth position.

Division 2 highlights saw young Shay Harper show his full potential with three fine wins for Barrow C at home to a strong County Officers B squad which resulted in a surprising 6-4 win for the struggling village team of late. Leaders Barrow D took full advantage of this slip by one of their rivals and Martin Dodd was unbeaten  in a narrow win away at Whitby Sports A.

Robin Arrich displayed good form in the division 3 match between Electric Sports A and Saughall Institute and enabled his team to register an important 6-4 success as they challenge for a top two spot at the end of the season.
