News report wc 10 Nov 2014

Current Liverpool singles champion Jonathan Taylor was in unstoppable form for Premier Division leaders Barrow as they entertained a Newton A squad giving seasonal debuts to Jeremy Lappin and Cheshire Veterans player Ken Connor, and with back up from Aaron Beech and John Allera they recorded an emphatic 9-1 victory. Elsewhere main rivals, Newton first team, led by Shaun Hall and Mark Pugh, were also hitting a 9-1 win, away at County Officers who included Andy Taylor for the first time this season.

Division 1 is proving as close as other seasons with favourites Groves A surprisingly going down 3-7 to a Graham Boyd inspired Groves B team who inflicted 3 singles defeats on experienced Robin Barker, no mean feat. On an adjoining table Newton A outpointed Groves first team 7-3 despite a fine maximum from Steve Clift and in the all Barrow clash In form John Allera led the A team to a narrow 6-4 success.

Two results in division 2 ended in draws, Will Sleddon helped County Officers B hold Saughall Deva, and a John Rowland maximum ensured that Barrovians shared the spoils in their away match with improving County Officers C.

Division 3 action saw County Officers F record a narrow 6-4 win over a weakened Electric Sports A team, nevertheless this squad remains unbeaten and has improved immensely under John Ashton. Saughall Institute recorded an important 7-3 away win against previously undefeated Officers D, and the new Bulgarian signing for Officers G began by hitting 3 wins and leading the team to a terrific 6-4 success at Barrow D. Meanwhile at Groves on Tuesday Simon Amari and the Jones boys hit a tremendous 10-0 victory against the hosts who included experienced Neil Powell making his way back after illness.
