DERBY DUEL SEES ROMANS CONQUER THE VIKINGS -
This eagerly awaited match between two rival Bury Table Tennis Club teams, Romans and Vikings, started well for Vikings with Clive Grimwood's excellent defensive play proving too strong for Kin Choi Chan's all out attacking game.
The match then took a monster turn in favour of Romans when they won the next four matches, with Robin Wallis winning against Jeff Yaxley in four sets and Paul Seabrook winning a closely fought match with Alan Brafield which duly went the full distance. Robin notched another win, this time in straight sets against Clive, followed by Kin also winning in straights against Alan.
Robin then completed a handy maximum on the night by overcoming Alan, and while both Kin and Paul had some very close matches, they were unable to add to Romans' tally when they both lost to Clive and Jeff. Romans then went on to notch their second win of the season, with Robin and Kin landing the doubles against Clive and Jeff to complete an enjoyable evening.
