Match Report - Sugar Blades v Rougham Rangers 05-10-2016

Sugar Blades 7-3 Rougham Rangers

05/10/2016 - Martin O'Leary

This was a tight match with many well contested games.
With the score poised at 3-3 with 4 matches to go this could have gone either way but Blades ‘mature’ team managed to win them all for a slightly flattering 7-3 score line against the young Rougham team.

In the first round of games Colin Davies opened with a 4 set win against Aston Fallows before Martin Haines fell to Adam Coombes in straight sets and then O’Leary beat Isaac Cunningham who was playing up from the 2 player league in 3 sets.

Martin Haines then had an excellent 4 set win against Aston fallows to make it 3-1 Blades but Isaac Cunningham’s shock 5 set win against Colin Davies and Coombes second straight set win made it 3-3 & all to play for.

However, the final round of matches saw Blades edge three close games to go 6-3 ahead before Davies & O’Leary combined to beat Fallows & Coombes in 4 tight sets to complete the evening.
